The Gunstringer

The Gunstringer is Twisted Pixel’s first Kinect game that will allow players to control a cowboy skeleton marionette on a quest for vengeance.

Twisted Pixel Games, creators of The Maw, Splosion Man and Comic Jumper, proudly present The Gunstringer! This is an all-new type of Kinect game where you'll puppeteer a fiery gun-toting marionette through his adventures. The Gunstringer combines solo platforming and shooting mechanics into unique, competitive action with a full suite of collectables, unlockables, abilities, rewards and more.
Along with the disc for The Gunstringer, the retail package will include a token code for the full downloadable version of Fruit Ninja Kinect via Xbox Live. Fruit Ninja Kinect brings the worldwide mobile gaming phenomenon to Kinect so you can use your arms as blades in an epic battle against the world’s most delicious produce

You actually take on the role of someone controlling a zombie cowboy marionette. Using the Kinect interface on the Xbox 360, players use their left hand to control their undead gunslinger as he ploughs into the action, and their right to fire his gun. If they're in the mood, they can point the index finger of their right hand at the screen and yell "pow!" with each shot they fire.

Twisted Pixel clearly know there's a cuddly undercurrent to their game, and have structure its presentation to play up to this. All the levels I was shown in the demo were intercut with real-life footage of the development team sitting in a theatre applauding and cheering on the action. The game kicks off with the team plonking a puppet down on a stage and pouring dirt on it before the game switches to an animated sequence. It all looks like naff am-dram, but endearingly so, and only the most curmudgeonly players won't crack a smile at the ramshackle action on the screen.

Along with the game you will also get a code for Fruit Ninja Kinect and some free launch DLC titled “The Wavy Tube Man Chronicles”. Finally, if you pre-order from select US and European retailers, you’ll receive two tokens for a free Avatar Prop from the game.
The Gunstringer will be released on September 13 in the US and September 16 across Europe.
